Originally from Latvia, Vadim Dumesh lives and works in Paris and Montreal. He studied cinema production in Sam Spiegel Film & TV School in Jerusalem and worked with internationally acclaimed directors such as Dan Setton, Hila Medalia, Heymann Brothers, Audrius Stonys, and others. Vadim’s directorial debut “Dirty Business”, a short documentary on economic relations between Israel and the West Bank, premiered at Visions du Réel and screened at dozens of festivals around the world. In France, Vadim started to develop a transdisciplinary practice after studying arts and political science. He currently explores the potential of documentary co-creation in his research-creation PhD thesis «Documentary authorship and collective creativity in the digital age» in the University of Quebec in Montréal, and Fresnoy, the national studio of contemporary arts. “La Base”, a documentary built around a co-creation process with Parisian taxi drivers since 2015, is Vadim’s first feature film.
