Talents Labs

The Talents Labs are where we get down to the nitty-gritty of filmmaking. If you are applying with a project, you can develop and present it at the Script Station, Doc Station, Short Form Station or Talent Project Market. Other Talents can look forward to taking part in Studios, practical workshops tailored to their specific needs and disciplines.

Develop and Present your Project

In addition to their general application, directors and screenwriters or producers can submit a project in development to the following Talents Labs. Targeted group and one-on-one mentoring sessions help participants hone their concepts and story structures, or find co-production partners and financiers to move their projects forward.

Studio Workshops for different Disciplines

The Berlinale Talents Summit is the common playground where creatives from all film disciplines meet. In order to deepen that experiences, actors, cinematographers, editors, production designers, sound designers, composers, sales agents, distributors and audience designers are automatically invited to become part of a Studio, intensive one or two-day workshops centred on their respective discipline. In the Studios they can share ideas with fellow Talents, mentors and experts and explore the aesthetics and mechanics of their profession.

From 2024, we are introducing the Directors Studio and the Producers Studio, a new series of internal sessions for the respective groups of Talents. Complementing the Summit programme, the Studios will create safe spaces to explore roles and responsibilities within teams and crews, actively benefit from the experiences of other Talents and make new contacts. Members of our Talents Labs can also attend the Studios. However, participation is not linked to a specific project.
