Anahit Simonian is an Armenian-French composer, pianist, filmmaker and screenwriter living and working between France (Occitanie) and Barcelona. Graduated in Armenia, she continued her music studies at the Higher Conservatories of Music in Moscow and Paris.She is invited to collect the “Mozart du 7ème Art” special prize created by CANAL+ at the Cannes Film Festival in 2000. The same year she also wins the SACEM and SONY MUSIC Special Prize for young composers. Since then, she has collaborated with filmmakers as Bertrand Tavernier, Isaki Lacuesta, Jean-Bernard Marlin and Meritxell Colell, writing more than 25 original soundtracks, some of them awarded at renowned film festivals as San Sebastián, Rotterdam and Guadalajara. She also collaborated with Arte, Canal Plus, Netflix (series My love). As a director she made “L’incroyable printemps de John William Dunne” (2016), developed in the DRAC Occitanie International Art Residency, and “L’Abcdaire de l’amoureuse d'un photographe”, a film premiered at Punto de Vista Film Festival (Spain) in 2017. In 2021 within the framework of an Audiovisual Artistic Residency in France she made the film "La Source", composed of 12 chapter-haikus. The same year she participates as a filmmaker in a collective film project born in Berlinale 2021 with 32 other directors from all over the world. She co-directs with Guillaume Poussou the publishing house of audiovisual and music projects "Invisible Travels" and "Invisible Travels Agency", a collective of artists and dreamers whose vocation is to explore the limits between the real and the imaginary, the spaces of creative freedom between dream, reality and space-time travel. The Agency's projects and cultural actions are presented in France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Armenia and Mexico. She is currently writing a book about the creative unconscious and “inner and invisible travels” in collaboration with the Spanish journalist and writer, Ivan Pintor.
