Asmara Abigail is an Indonesian actor who has been working in South East Asia since 2015 and her works have been shown and competed in several prestigious international film festivals, such as; Locarno, Toronto, Sundance, Venice, Palm Springs and Busan. At the 4th International Film Festival and Awards Macao, Asmara is awarded as the Asian Stars: Up Next by Variety Magazine along with 7 other actors and actresses across Asia. Asmara’s portrayal of Zahara in Stone Turtle directed by Woo Ming Jin got her nominated as Best Actress in the 75th Locarno International Film Festival 2022 and won her a Penjor Award for Southeast Asian Feature Best Actress in Bali Makarya Film Festival 2022 with Benjamin Illos – Programmer at Cannes Quinzaine des Réalisateurs as one of the juries. In August 2018 she also participated in acting workshop with maestro Enrico Bonavera, the Harlequin of the Piccolo Teatro di Milano – Teatro d’Europa. And at the beginning of 2023, she was chosen to participate in Berlinale Talents 2023 – Acting Studio under the wing of Jean-Louis Rodrigue and Kristof Konrad.
