Elias Ribeiro

Elias Ribeiro is a Brazilian born and raised filmmaker who has lived and worked between the USA, Europe for 10 years. He moved to Johannesburg in 2010 to pursue a MA in Film Producing at AFDA and (...) founded Urucu Media in 2011. He learnt to speak fluently 4 languages along the way and worked in media in different capacities. He started from the floor running and production assisting, talent scout and casting, trained as an editor, worked in the camera department and moved into producing over the years. His travelling gave him great understanding of universal themes. The opportunity to work in all departments within production affords him the ability to effectively communicate with his team. He has delivered content for broadcast, theatrical, educational, airlines, VOD and has shot in over 10 countries. He has worked on fiction and documentaries. He is currently developing a slate of projects for different screen sizes. His projects have earned Hubert Bals and Torino Film Lab development and production awards, an ARTE International Prize, a Special Mention from the jury in Locarno. His films premiered in competition at the Berlinale, Tribeca, Montreal, Toronto, Beijing, Stockholm, London to name a few. Elias is a member of EAVE.
