Humaira Bilkis is a Dhaka-based filmmaker, producer and educator. Humaira utilises the creative documentary approach to disclose the hidden truth and steam off the depressed reality of the surroundings through screen narrative. Her artistic interest is aesthetically exploring complex human relationships in personal spaces and transgressing the conformist view of socio-cultural norms. Humaira's films travelled worldwide and were showcased at industrially important spots like IDFA, Lussas doc, Docpoint Helsinki, and Traces de Vie. Her films have won awards and critical reception at the Yamagata Film Festival, IDFF Flahertiana, and Message to Man International Film Festival. Humaira's latest documentary, Things I Could Never Tell My Mother (2022), had its world premiere at Visions du Reel. It was widely celebrated and presented at major Asian and European film festivals. Things I Could Never Tell My Mother (2022) was picked up by NHK Japan, Lyon Capitale TV France, for television broadcasting. Her debut film, I Am Yet to See Delhi (2015), was available for online streaming on Mubi India and DAFilms. From her creative production venture, Zoo Films, she regularly produces her films and joins various innovative independent film productions as a co-producer. With Zoo Films, Humaira participated in the Berlinale Doc Station, European Film Market, Doc for Sale IDFA, Docdege Kolkata and Dhaka Doc Lab and have been awarded several co-production film funds, including CNC, Region sud, and National Film Grant of Bangladesh.
