Max Disgrace is a Berlinale Talents 2020 award-winning film director, festival programmer, and proud trans masculine pervert. Disgrace’s shorts “Tribute” and “Crystal Clear” were featured at BFI Flare London (2020, 2019). “Crystal Clear” (Peccadillo Pictures) was exhibited at Tate Modern during his artist talk “Defiant Dykes: Luscious and Agitating” (2017). This year Disgrace was awarded the Wahala Film Fund grant – a completion fund for Queer, Transgender and Intersex People of Colour filmmakers in UK, Europe and the Global South – for upcoming short “Ruptured.” Disgrace has programmed the London Porn Film Festival for the last three years, an independent non-profit, queer sexuality festival which started in resistance to repressive censorship laws – including the Audiovisual Media Services Regulations 2014. In 2020, Disgrace was a guest curator for the inaugural San Francisco PornFilmFestival. Disgrace’s films have also featured at “Edging” in LUX Moving Image, London, at the Schwules Museum, Berlin and have been invited to many film festivals internationally, including Fringe! Film Festival (London), PornFilmFestival Berlin, Oslo Fusion Film Festival (Norway), Cinema Queer (Sweden), CineKink (New York) and Porny Days - Film Kunst Festival Zürich where “Crystal Clear” was the winner of the short film award (2017).
