Amine Hattou is an Algerian filmmaker with an MFA in Film and Television Directing from Columbia College Chicago (2024) and a degree in Journalism from the University of Algiers (2000). In 2009, he directed his first short documentary, Two for Tango, after being selected for the summer university at La Fémis in Paris, France. In 2011, he directed his first short fiction film, Down to Earth, which was selected for over twenty international festivals, including FESPACO (Burkina Faso) In 2012, he founded Béjaia Film Lab, a professional platform for North African directors and producers. Amine also created Dima Cinema, an initiative dedicated to developing film culture in Algeria. From 2017 to 2019, he served as a steering committee member of NAAS (Network of Arab Alternative Screens). A recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship (2021), he has participated in renowned international programs such as the Berlinale Talent Campus (2013) and the Global Media Makers program (2018) in Los Angeles. His filmography includes the feature documentary Janitou (2020), which premiered at the Durban International Film Festival and was screened at major festivals such as FESPACO. He is currently developing the feature-length documentary House of shadows (2025).
