
An alumnus of Berlinale Talents 2015, Shiladitya Bora is returning to Berlinale 2023 with 'Ghaath', an official selection in Panorama. He has been associated with all aspects of films and filmmaking, from production, marketing and distribution to commissioning of projects for the past 15 years. He started his career with PVR Cinemas, India’s biggest exhibitor, where he successfully released more than 85 films. In 2015, he joined Drishyam Films (one of India’s most successful independent film studio) as their first CEO, and worked on some of the best films to have come out of there: 'Masaan' (Cannes), 'Newton' (Berlinale, Tribeca, India's official entry to the Academy Awards 2018), 'Dhanak' (Berlinale), among others. In 2017, he started his own venture: Platoon One Films, a boutique film studio with a core focus on production, marketing, distribution and syndication. His maiden independent production at Platoon: ‘Yours Truly’ premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2018 and was acquired by Zee Entertainment for worldwide distribution. His debut directorial short film ‘Aapke Aa Jane Se (Daddy's Got Moves)’ was very well received globally. Shiladitya was also selected as a ‘Director’ at Kyoto Filmmakers Lab 2019. His debut directorial feature 'Bhagwan Bharose' is currently in post-production and is gearing up for release this year. As a distributor, he has been associated with some of the best independent films to have released in India in the last few years. One of the latest films he distributed was Rohena Gera’s Cannes Critics' Week-winner 'Sir' which was trending at No.1 position on Netflix India for 5 days, and in top 10 for 34 days.
