Producer, programmer, coordinator and translator based in Paris. Born in 1978 in Japan, he graduated in creative arts from Kyoto University. Since moving to Paris in 2003, he has been involved in a number of projects relating to Japanese cinema in France and Europe, such as Japan consultant at the Festival des 3 Continents, organisation of retrospectives of Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Shinji Somai at the Cinémathèque Française and of Shinji Aoyama at the Jeu de Paume, and the Gateway for DirectorsJapan international co-production workshop. He is also very involved in the emergence of the new generation of independent Japanese filmmakers such as Koji Fukada, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Leo Sato and Katsuya Tomita, whose films he produced, Bangkok Nites (2016) and Tenzo (2019). He is also developing an film education project in disadvantaged rural areas of Japan. In 2020 he was invited to Cinéma du Réel as a jury member for the feature film competition. In 2021 he joined the production company Survivance to develop Franco-Japanese co-production projects. His latest film Yamabuki by Juichiro Yamasaki was presented in Tiger competition in Rotterdam and at Acid Cannes in 2022.
